Cybersecurity & Data Protection

We secure all operational cybersecurity layers of your hotel/restaurant. We configure firewalls, routers, antivirus engines, and email security platforms. We administer Data Loss Prevention (DLP) parameters and data classification policies to keep commercial and guest data safe.

Overview

A hotel has a far wider digital attack surface than an ordinary business. The PMS at reception, POS terminals across restaurants and bars, guest Wi-Fi, the online booking engine, the channel manager and accounting systems all run interconnected. A single weak point in this chain puts the entire operation at risk. At Hotelsupp we treat cybersecurity not as one product but as a holistic management process covering every layer.

Hotels are targeted for two reasons: they cannot afford downtime, which makes them more likely to pay ransom, and they hold large volumes of personal data (IDs, card numbers, contact details). Fake cancellation or commission emails sent to the reservations desk are the most common entry point. That is why we build email security (anti-phishing, SPF/DKIM/DMARC), endpoint antivirus and firewall policies as a single, continuously monitored defense line.

GDPR/KVKK and PCI-DSS compliance is about brand trust, not just avoiding fines. We classify where guest data lives, restrict unnecessary access, and use DLP policies to control data leaving the organization. So in the event of a breach you meet your legal obligations and protect your reputation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should guest Wi-Fi be separated from the hotel management network?

Absolutely. The guest network must be isolated from the network hosting PMS, POS and accounting systems using VLANs and firewall rules. Otherwise malware from a guest device could reach front-office systems directly.

What happens if ransomware locks the front office?

If ransomware encrypts the PMS database, check-in/out, room assignment and billing halt, forcing manual paper operation. Regular offline backups, network segmentation and endpoint protection are the three core layers that prevent this.

How do you protect the reservations inbox from fraudulent emails?

We configure anti-phishing filters, sender-spoofing detection and SPF/DKIM/DMARC records at the email gateway, and help staff recognize suspicious messages.

Is cybersecurity the same as 5651 logging?

No. 5651 logging is the legal recording of guest internet traffic and falls under our Network & Infrastructure service. Cybersecurity is a separate defense layer covering firewall, antivirus, email security and data protection. The two work together.

Why It Matters

Protecting guest personal records (GDPR/KVKK) and financial data ensures legal compliance and preserves brand reputation.

Risks if Omitted

Malware locking front-office databases, massive legal fines for data leaks, and absolute loss of customer trust.
